Our mission
My Funding Opportunity Guide is an independent educational guide that helps people clarify a funding goal, find relevant source pages, and plan practical next steps. It is designed to make funding information easier to navigate, whether you are planning for school, building a business, organizing a community project, pursuing workforce training, or comparing other kinds of support.
Free to use
The guide and its tools are free to use and do not require an account. You can explore the Funding Opportunity Checkup, search the opportunity directory, plan deadlines, estimate an education funding gap, and learn how to recognize common funding scams. Using this website does not require you to submit an application or provide an email address. A third-party provider may have its own fees, terms, or information requirements, so review those directly before proceeding.
Useful across different funding goals
Funding needs vary by project. Students and families may be comparing scholarships, education grants, school aid, and work-study. Business owners may be researching loans, limited-purpose grants, competitions, training, or investment. Nonprofits and community organizations may be looking for public-purpose opportunities or local assistance. Individuals may need to distinguish benefits and community aid from grants, loans, or donation-based fundraising. The guide helps identify the type of resource and where to verify it; it does not claim that every program fits every project.
How to make the tools useful
- Describe what the funding would pay for and who will receive or manage it.
- Select the relevant funding purpose and state, then use the Checkup or directory to find starting points.
- Compare the provider’s current eligibility, permitted uses, application steps, deadlines, repayment terms, and reporting duties.
- Use the Deadline Planner and, for education expenses, the College Funding Gap Calculator to organize a plan. Treat estimates as planning aids until a provider confirms the details.
- Apply or request support through the provider’s official site, and keep copies of instructions and submitted materials.
Clear labels and careful verification
Scholarships, grants, loans, benefits, contracts, prizes, crowdfunding donations, and venture investments are not interchangeable. A match is a reason to review a source, not an eligibility decision or promise of money. We label the record type and geography, show source and freshness information, and encourage visitors to confirm current requirements with the original provider. We do not submit applications, make award decisions, or guarantee that a project will be funded.
